What can you expect from the Luminess Tan System?

July 5th, 2010 by admin

What can you expect in terms of tanning when you use the Luminess Tan system – I’ll try and show you..

Where did I first hear about the Luminess Air System?

This unique tanning system which uses an airbrush for application is proving a hit. This is all thanks to the use of a professional style airbrush for applying the product.

What’s included in the Luminess tanning package

If you decide to try the Luminess system you’ll receive much more than a bottle of tanning solution. You’re getting an actual, complete airbrush kit, just like professional makeup artists use, with everything you need to get started included in the package. Nearly all you need is included, except the experience gained through practice.

similar to anything in life, you’re probably not going to find the airbrush as easy to use as it looks – not straight away anyhow. It takes practice to use that brush properly. Rather than practising with the real tan solution you could have a go with some coloured water – cheaper and less messy. By practicing you won’t get put off by any early problems.

You might like to get a friend involved – its much more fun to practice on each other – a bit of a laugh and you can judge each other’s spraying as well as pointing out any bits they’ve missed.

You may not believe it at first but you’ll soon be achieving the same results professionals do. Luminess have avoided the problem of spraying an almost clear solution onto the skin by adding a coloured pigment – this will be visible as its applied to help monitor results as you go along. This helps you keep from overlapping your spray or missing spots or streaking, and helps you get that seamless, flawless finish.

After letting the tan take hold, maybe four or five hours, you can jump into the shower and wash away the remains of the colour pigment – if you go to bed first you’ll find most of it on your bed covers when you wake! The Luminess guys have really come up with a good idea by adding pigment to their tanning solution. You will have to wait a few hours before the tanning solution causes a tan to appear. Its much like having your hair coloured.

For some people nothing but a real sun tan will surfice – for that you’re back to sunscreen and the risks of UV exposure. There’s no avoiding the fact that you need to learn how to use the system. After the learning process is complete you won’t need to look pale or white ever again.

Luminess Tan: What You Need To Know

June 17th, 2010 by admin

If you’re looking for a flawless, smooth, bronze sun tan without having to sit in the sun burning, the the Luminess Tan system could be for you. The adverts claim that you can easily learn how to apply it yourself without any horrible streaks or unattractive spots. Are the adverts telling the truth – there’s much detail that isn’t presented in detail – I set out to find out…

Luminess Tan what you need to know

What I was really interested in was whether the Luminess tanning airbrush would not only work but get me better results than using regular lotions or creams.

The tanning takes place after you’ve let the lumpiness solution get to work on your skin – luckily there’s a coloured pigment in the formula so you can see where it’s covering as you spray it. This gives you a good idea of what the finished look will be like. Without this using the supplied airbrush would be very hard – you could end up a very strange combination of light and dark! The problem with many clear creams is that you over do some areas and miss others causing exactly that streaking problem.

The adverts tell you how controllable the airbrush is, and, to be fair it’s not bad. You can adjust the flow and change how much is getting sprayed on – but don’t think you’ll be a genius at it first time round. The first time you get it out of the box you’re going to need to get some practice. This can be fun with a friend or just try in front of your bathroom mirror. You would be best to stand in the bath or shower as you’re likely to get it in more places than you’d really like.

The art of applying the solution is to learn the optimum distance to hold the airbrush away from your body and master the best motion to use for decent coverage. Once you’ve had a go it gets much easier and you’ll soon find that you can apply a very professional tan whenever you fancy.

I would recommend the Luminess Tan system with no hesitation, check it out here.

Keep safe whilst tanning

June 16th, 2010 by admin

People may argue that, much as in Victorian times, having white or pale skin is fashionable. I don’t believe it – nearly everyone you meet loves to have a good sun tan – it looks good and it makes them feel good. The trouble is it’s not good to lie around in the sun, at least not without protection. UV rays can be dangerous and their links with skin cancers are now beyond doubt. You need to keep safe whilst tanning..

Keep safe whilst tanning

If you’re going to sun bathe then a good sunscreen is the most obvious protector against sun damage. Whereas a factor 5 used to be considered quite high, now scientists recommend a minimum of 8 to 15 but preferably factor 30. This will obviously slow the tanning process down but is much safer than getting burnt. A slowly developed tan will not only be safer but a better, longer lasting tan.

When you first arrive in a sunny climate, take your time – there’s no point burning on the first day of your holiday – some people argue that a visit to a salon for sun bed treatment before going could be beneficial, but again others argue that they’re dangerous.

After you see a tan begin to develop you can stay out a bit longer – but don’t reduce your sunscreen factor too soon. As Noel Coward said ‘Only mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the midday sun..’ and he wasn’t wrong  its worth avoiding the highest temperatures between 11am and 1pm when the UV is at its most dangerous.

Over exposure to UV and sun bathing can cause your skin to age – to help with this keep it moisturised – before and particularly after your tanning session. The frequent application of a good moisturiser will help your tan last that little bit longer.

If you’re still not happy with traditional sun bathing then why not try one of the latest fake tanning products such as the Luminess Tan system – read my review here.

Best way to Fake a Summer Tan

June 15th, 2010 by admin

Having a great summer tan doesn’t just look good, it makes you feel healthier, thinner and even sexier. The days of lying out in the baking hot sun all day are now frowned upon – with the risks from high UV exposure and the knowledge that not only will your skin age much quicker but the risk of developing melanoma skin cancer is a real possibility.

Best way to get a summer tan

So, if you still want the sun tan but you don’t want to risk permanent skin damage, what are the best alternatives?

You have a few choices, self tanners which will actually darken the skin by using DHA (dihydroxyacetone) or some type of tanning lotion or cream.

I’ve put my top five suggestions for getting that summer tan below..

Visit a professional salon

If you want a really good sun tan with a flawless finish then the professional salons can be heard to beat. The cost can be anywhere from £25 to £50, if not more but you can choose from full exfoliation or moisturising with airbrush spraying down to a simple spray tan. A quick spraying whilst in a special booth is all that’s needed – you need a few hours for it to really dry before showering the excess off.

How to tan your body – without lines

The first step is to exfoliate the skin properly using an all over body scrub – best done in a shower. Ladies – shave well before starting – nothing worse than trying to add tanning to hairy legs. Vaseline on lips and nails helps avoid getting tanning stains where you don’t want them.

Apply your chosen tanning solution or cream in a methodical fashion – start by doing each leg then each arm. Finally tackle the main body. When doing the legs use long movements to spread the tan over the calves and feet then the hips and thighs. Try and avoid any excessive exercise for about half an hour after applying – that way you won’t get any streaking.

Use an old hand towel or flannel to get your hands clean after.

Tanning your face

The first obvious step is to get any hair tied back and well out of the way – unsightly lines around the hair line are a turn off.
Exfoliate the skin but be gentle on your face. Forget moisturiser as it might effect how the tanner takes.

Add the tanner evenly over your face and blend in gently – don’t over do it – your face doesn’t need to be much darker than its normal level to look natural.

Choosing the right tanning product

There are various types of tanners on the market  – some created  just for the face and other airbrush systems and solutions for the whole body. I’ve found the Luminess Tan airbrush system a great way of adding an all over tan.

Luminess Tan Solution – Is it worth the effort?

June 15th, 2010 by admin

According to the TV ads, using the Luminess Tan system can give you a superb tan that will last a fortnight. But can it really and is it worth all the effort and expense? Would you be better off just sticking to lotions and creams?

Luminess tan solution

The adverts I’ve seen say that the Luminess system is a real breakthrough – they make many claims, such as..

The system is easy to use and will give anyone the tanning results they’re looking for.

This is true to a degree – you’re unlikely to get really good results the first time you try – you’re going to need a bit of practice before you can really get accurate control over the airbrush. You wouldn’t go far wrong  by getting a friend and practicing on each other before trying the real thing. The pigment included in the solution allows you to see how well the coverage has taken before the actual tan really appears.

The airbrush supplied is accurate enough that you won’t make a mess when spraying and is not the same as the spraying that is undertaken in professional tanning booths.

This is true as long as you’ve had a bit of practice – I managed to make a mess the first couple of times, but then that’s nothing unusual! The controls on the airbrush do allow for fine adjustment of the spray.

The tans are very realistic and can last for up to two weeks.

This is about right – depends how many times you bath or shower – if you’re scrubbing away every day then you’ll be down to a week. Adding moisturising cream can help the tan really take – looks better too.

The tanning solution has been approved by the FDA and gives much better coverage than other self tanning solutions.

The solutions work out more economic than visiting professional tanning studios.

Well I would hope so – otherwise it wouldn’t be much good!

I’ve found the lumpiness tan solution to be a good tanning system – it’s worth trying if you’re not keen on looking like Casper the ghost.

Luminess Tan Review by ‘The Boyfriend’

May 28th, 2010 by admin

I have written this review of Luminess Tan to give you my thoughts about my girlfriend’s experience.
As I have the good fortune of working outdoors I have a good tan most of the year – I haven’t really needed to try the Luminess system myself. I just thought you might be interested in the ‘other half’s’ point of view.

Sun tan luminessWhen my girlfriend decided to try a new tanning system that included an airbrush, I thought she was having me on. I asked her why she couldn’t just get outside and let the sun do it for real? She went on to show me some magazine cuttings she’d kept and tell me about skin cancer and the harmful after effects of too many UV rays. I decided at that point to leave her to try her new airbrushing sun tan.

She was of course right – we’re all well aware that too much sun really isn’t good for you. The Australians preach constantly that you should wear a shirt when outside. The sun can damage any skin and bring on premature ageing. The lighter your skin complexion the worse it can be.

When the system was delivered we were both keen to see what was included and whether it was likely to work. It looked just like a small airbrush – my girlfriend had already tried a friends and knew how to get it working. She was soon ready to have a go at a new tan.

Once she’d started and shown me how to apply the tan I helped her with those ‘hard to reach areas’ you know, like the back of the legs! I think it would be hard to complete a seamless finish as they promise on your own – someone needs to assist.

A few hours later she had to shower off the excess which left the start of a good light brown tan. The following day she was heading out in the skimpiest clothing she could find to show off her new tan.

All in all the system worked as promised and my girlfriends very happy. Her tan has become a lovely shade of brown and lasts for quite a few days – so girls, don’t forget to get your boyfriend or partner over to help out when you’re trying the lumpiness tanning airbrush kit.

Luminess Tan: Know This Before Buying

May 26th, 2010 by admin

I know its hard to know who to believe when thinking of trying a new product, like this Luminess Airbrush Tanning System, so I thought I’d write an honest review to help you.

Learn what I likead and what I didn’t.

Luminess Tan Know ThisThe system comprises the actual Luminess Tan along with a special airbrush system to apply the product. Now I was a bit dubious about the airbrush when I first saw it – it didn’t look like it would cover  me very fast. I was a little worried I’d get half way through and get bored – then I’d be walking round looking like a zebra!

The Luminess system uses a self tanning product that is, as I’ve already mentioned, applied through this airbrush. This avoids all the streaking I’ve found before with lotions and creams which can take quite a few hours to achieve their full colour.

The Luminess tan colours the skin as its applied so you can see how its going to look straight away.

No more guess work.

You’ll still need to shower off the excess a few hours later which will leave you with a good allover body colour. I have had no trouble in getting a seamless tan that looks really natural – you wouldn’t believe how many people ask me where I’ve been on holiday.

The one thing I didn’t really like is the fact I couldn’t spray my back or the back of my legs – I needed a friend to help. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing! Trouble is you then have to teach them how to do the spraying too – although if you get a tanning partner you can always tan each other at the same time.

The airbrush system can also be used to put Luminess other makeup products to the test – these are good fun and really can give you a cover girl look – which goes well with the tan you’ve just got.

I like it – read more about the Luminess Tan Airbrush System here

What does it take for a Great Fake Tan?

May 23rd, 2010 by admin

Its quite possible to get sun burned in under 15 minutes, especially if you’re fair  or pale skinned. In the last few years the necessity of a good, high factor sun cream has been made abundantly clear.

So, if you don’t want to expose yourself to the dangers of high UV exposure, what’s the answer?

There is of course another way – Cheat!

Great fake tanSo, how do you go about creating a great fake sun tan?

The first step is a clean and exfoliated body. You can do this with a body scrub and a more gentle facial scrub. This process gets rid of the top layer of dead skin cells and will help your fake tan hold and last a few extra days.

A couple of hours after showering or bathing the body should be perfectly dry, which is what’s needed to start. You can then apply a skin moisturiser if you wish – this will help make the skin soft and supple.
After this you need to apply the fake tan of your choice. These range from creams and lotions, like ‘So Bronze Light to medium’ or ‘medium to dark’ body tanning lotion or you can try the latest trend in airbrush applied tans, using such gadgets as the Luminess Airbrush system.
When using a lotion, add to your hands and massage into the skin working your way up to the top of your neck. Try hard to keep the lotion spread evenly which will avoid any unsightly streaks.
Before tanning your face its worth washing your hands well. Work your way around your face and down your neck front and sides.
You will then need to leave the lotion on for about quarter of an hour before dressing again or going to bed. It can take up to four hours for the tan to fully work.
If using the Luminess Airbrush it will be quite a bit quicker.
Using a system of trial and error you can choose the colour you look best in – light, medium or dark.
Its worth applying moisturiser or after-sun daily to help the skin keep looking and feeling good.

Is a Luminess Tan More Trouble Than It’s Worth?

May 23rd, 2010 by admin

They tell you in the Luminess Tan commercials that you’ll get a flawless, golden tan with no streaking or spotting. But they tend to gloss over just how that airbrush works and how much mess it can make. Is a Luminess Tan worth all that effort, or can you get the same results with a lotion or cream?

Luminess TanningThe unique formula in Luminess Tan contains special pigments that allow you to see the product as you’re applying it, so you can see what your tan will look like after the product has been on your skin for a while. These pigments also make it easier for you to use their airbrush system because you can see exactly where you’re spraying the solution. Unlike those creams and lotions that you buy in the store, with which you have no idea if you’ve missed a spot or not and you just keep overlapping the product, which is what causes all that streaking.

According to the commercial the airbrush is supposed to help you get a flawless tan because you can control the spray, and the pigments in the product let you watch to see that you’re evenly applying it. Unfortunately, if you’ve never used an airbrush before, you could be watching that solution spray all over the floor, all over the wall, or everywhere but on your body where it’s supposed to be going.

One thing they don’t tell you in the commercials is that there’s a learning curve involved with the Luminess Tan airbrush. So if you’ve never used an airbrush before, don’t be disappointed if your first few tries are less than makeup-artist quality. Practice with colored water in your airbrush until you get the hang of it. Use circular motions, alter the air flow speed, and move closer or farther away. Work with the colored water in your airbrush until you can easily apply your tanner.

Practice makes perfect and once you get the hang of it, you will see those results they promise in the commercial. You’ll have a perfect, flawless tan every time.

Excuse Me? Did a Makeup Artist Apply Your Luminess Tan?

May 22nd, 2010 by admin

With this article I’m going to tell you about the results you’ll see when you use the Luminess Tan Airbrush Tanning system. This newest entrant into the self-tanning arena is causing quite a stir. And it’s all due to the fact that you use a makeup artist’s airbrush to apply the product.

Luminess TansWhen you order your kit you’re getting much more than a bottle of product with Luminess Tan stamped on the label. You’re getting an actual, complete airbrush kit, just like professional makeup artists use, with everything you need to get started included in the package. Everything that is, except experience.

If you’ve never used an airbrush before, you’re not going to get that seamless, flawless tan they tell you about in the commercial. It takes practice to use that brush properly. And my advice to you is to first practice with some colored water in the airbrush, spraying it on paper, until you get the hang of it. Otherwise, you’ll just be dissatisfied with your results and give up.

After you’ve learned to use the airbrush, though, you can achieve those makeup-artist results that they talk about. One of the great things about Luminess Tan is that it includes pigments in the solution so you can see what your results are going to look like while you’re applying the product. This helps you keep from overlapping your spray or missing spots or streaking, and helps you get that seamless, flawless finish.

After six or eight hours you can shower and these pigments will wash off, but don’t worry, you’re not washing off your tan. The pigments are only there to help you see as you apply the tanning product. It takes a few hours for the tanner itself to develop. Just like when you color your hair – you have to wait a half hour or so for the color to develop.

A Luminess tan isn’t for everyone. You need to be patient and learn how to use the airbrush first. But after you do, you’ll have a beautiful golden tan that looks just like it was applied by a professional makeup artist.
